CSCI DISTINGUISHED SCIENTIST LECTURE Eligibility - A Canadian MD or PhD medical Scientist who has made significant contributions to new knowledge and is generally recognized in her/his field as expert, innovative, and in the forefront of research endeavour. Proposal Mechanism – Individuals should be proposed by a CSCI member. Five (5) copies of the nomination package are to be submitted, which include two (2) letters of support and a current curriculum vitae. The curriculum vitae must include a complete business mailing address and e-mail address. Deadline - Submissions are to be received by NOVEMBER 30, 2007. Selection Process - Review and prioritization of the candidates will be made by the CSCI Awards Committee and their recommendations will be forwarded to the CSCI Executive for ratification. Nominees will be notified by January 31, 2008. Award and Presentation - The award will consist of a free one-year CSCI membership, a plaque and $2,000 Canadian. Return airfare and accommodation during the two days associated with the presentation will be included when required. The presentation of this award will be at the CSCI Annual Conference. The Awardee will be expected to give a Lecture on the subject of her/his current research activity as well as write an article for the CSCI Journal Clinical and Investigative Medicine. The CIM editor will be in touch with the winner to provide more details. Presentation of
the award will be made at the time of the Lecture. The 2008 CSCI Annual

2008 CSCI DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD Eligibility - an individual, pre-eminent in science, medicine, law, business, industry, education or politics, who has contributed significantly to the Canadian Scientific Community through the commitment of time, skills, wisdom, or funds. Proposal Mechanism - individuals should be proposed by a CSCI member. A total of two (2) letters of support must accompany the nominee's current curriculum vitae; one from the nominator and one from a seconder. This nomination package must be received at the CSCI Office no later than OCTOBER 22, 2007. Selection Process - review and priorization of the candidates will be made by the CSCI Awards Committee and their recommendations will be forwarded to the CSCI Executive for ratification. Notification to the recipient will be made by December 31, 2007. Award - the Award will consist of an inscribed plaque, a suitable gift, and an honorary membership to the CSCI. Return airfare and accommodation for the one day in association with the presentation ceremony will be provided, when required. The presentation ceremony will occur at the time of the CSCI Annual Conference during the Young Investigator Forum Dinner. Eligibility - A new young investigator within five (5) years of their first academic appointment who, in the estimation of their departmental chair, is deemed to have accomplished a significant and innovative piece of work. Proposal Mechanism - Candidacy is achieved through nomination by a CSCI member, with support being provided from the nominee's departmental chair. Five (5) copies of the nomination package are required, which include a total of two (2) letters of support and a current curriculum vitae. The curriculum vitae must include a business mailing address with a current email address. Deadline - Submissions are to be received by NOVEMBER 26, 2007. Selection Process - Review and prioritization of the nominations will be made by the CSCI Awards Committee and their recommendations will be forwarded to the CSCI Executive for ratification. Award and Presentation - The award consists of a free one-year membership to CSCI, a plaque and $1,000 Canadian which will be presented to the recipient at the time of his or her lecture. The lecture, entitled The Joe Doupe Annual Lecture, will be on a subject of the Awardee's choice to be given during the RCPSC and CSCI annual meeting. The recipient is also asked to write an article for the CSCI Journal Clinical and Investigative Medicine. The CIM editor will be in touch with the winner to provide more details. Return airfare and accommodation for up to two days in association with the lecture will be provided, if required.
